Food

The food market accounts for about 9 % of the overall European tube deliveries. The share of this market segment has remained stable over the last few years.

With ever declining household sizes there will be a huge demand for small packaging answering for a more nomadic, on-the-go lifestyle. Tubes which are convenient, easy to handle and reclosable and which can be produced in a great variety of sizes will benefit from this trend.

However, there are many other food products such as sweet pastes which are already packed in tubes. In addition tubes have recently also made inroads in other markets which have not used tubes before. For example, in the beverage industry an energy drink was launched in a kind of mixture between tube and bottle, the so-called Tu-Bo. This tube was elected “Tube of the Year” in the annual etma tube contest in 2003.
